We decided to get away for a few days so we took advantage of some great celebrations in Sharpsburg MD for the 4th of July. It had been a while since the kids had seen their grandparents anyway so it worked out really well. I was pretty stressed about the 5 hour drive since Anna is not always the best in the car. Turns out she did really well and Jack was the bigger pill of the two, especially on the way back. On the way up, he REALLY wanted to see grandpa so the impatience came out and on the way back he just wanted out of the car. All in all though it was a good trip and everyone seemed to have a fun time.
Saturday was a celebration on the Antietam battlefield featuring the
Marlyand Symphony Orchestra and some pretty amazing fireworks. There were a ton of people, a little bit of thunder and lightening, a little bit of rain, lots of heat, and some great music. Anna slept through the very loud firing of the guns and the fireworks. The poor girl was exhausted. Here are some of my favorite pics (there are more on facebook)..

On sunday we just hung out and did a little bit of shopping at the outlets while Jack hung out with grandma and grandpa. Anna got some alone time with mom and dad which doesn't happen all that often. :) Later that day we met up with an old high school friend of Matt's. We caught up over ice cream (one of Jack's favorites). It was fun hearing some old stories of Matt. lol here are a few other pics of the weekend...
